PTO General Meeting

Thank you Dr. Walz, Mrs. Orr and Mrs. Morell for attending and representing the school.

 

Board introductions:

Kim Emerson and Gloria Minnick: Co-President

Erin Henry: Vice president

Emily Matson and Jamie Cearlock: Co-Treasurers

Jamie Joy: Secretary

Kristen Sanders: Social Media Chair

Gena Nolan: Fundraising Chair

Kelly Watson: Diversity Chair

 

We will plan to meet every other month with rotating days of Tuesday and Thursday to try to catch different schedules. Childcare will be available through our high school Key Club.

 

Budget: We are working on getting it posed on the Woerther website PTO page so our school community can see what are funds are being used towards.

 

With PTO funds, we have already been able to purchase:

  • Bike racks
  • Helped purchase new bookshelves for classrooms
  • Chalk art in front of the school for first day of school

 

Future goals:

  • Painted blacktop games and artwork; we will need to raise $7400 to fund this

 

Penny Wars: September 8-12, 2025

  • Lead: Gena Nolan
  • There will be 2 volunteers each morning to help guide the kids with their donations.
  • Pennies and paper money will count towards positive points; silver coins will count towards negative points.
  • There will be nightly a post with point totals
  • PayPal Power hours will be scheduled Wednesday afternoon and Thursday evening.
  • The grade that earns the most points pizza party and extra recess.

 

Movie Night: September 19, 202

  • Leads:  Erin Henry, Kelly Gannan & Megan Gibson
  • Featuring: Lilo and Stich the Live Action Movie.
  • Arrival after 6:30 pm, movie starts @ 7pm.
  • We will plan to watch the movie on the back field with contingenc plan to move into the gym if there is inclement weather.
  • Snacks available for purchase, $1 each, cash only.

 

Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat: October 17, 2025

  • More information and sign-ups to come

 

Book Fair: September 29-October 3, 2025

  • Leads: Andrea Holcombe
  • Classroom preview beforehand for kids to pick-out books they want/need
  • Can set-up e-wallet
  • Volunteer sign-up genius will be coming out next week

 

St. Louis City 2 Game: September 28, 2025

  • Lead: Gena Nolan

Fall Parties: October 30, 2025

  • Leads: Kelly Gannan & Megan Gibson 
  • All grade level classes in the gym will have games set-up to play
  • We will need parents to help run the games. Look out for sign-up genius for opportunity to volunteer.

 

Dine Outs

  • Lead: Kelly Watson
  • Ballwin Dine Out - Thank you everyone for coming out! Earned $110 back for our school!
  • Next up: Scooters Coffee September 16th
  • Further dine outs: Culvers
    • 4th and 5th graders can volunteer to help serve food; look out of Sign-Up Genius

  • Skate Port cost $13 for skate rental; $3 goes back to Woerther

Dr. Walz Report

  • Theme for this year: Encourage Connection and Celebrate Success
    • Encourage connections with staff and between kids
  • 2024-2025 Spring Star Math Building Score: goal 80%, went to 40% to 76%
  • 2024-2025 MAP test growth: increased by 2% in proficiency in ELA and 10% in math
  • Celebrate even the little successes
